Sidney V. DeBoer Memorial Scholarship

Sid DeBoer was a science educator at Battle Creek Central high School for eight years in the 1950’s and became one of the four founding instructors to help create Kellogg Community College. he went on to teach Biology and Botany and was the Chairman of KCC’s Math and Science Department for 14 years. After 30 years of education, he retired in 1978. Sid also served in the Regular Army Air Corps as a Geodetic Control Officer and was honorably discharged in April 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant.

Impact

Sid’s contributions to education led to honors by KCC Board of Trustees, City of Battle Creek, U.S. House of Representatives and the Battle Creek Central High School Hall of Fame Committee.

His devotion for KCC is demonstrated by the establishment of the Sidney V. DeBoer Memorial Scholarship and Project Fund at the KCC Foundation where his story will live on.
