Parnell "Bud" Clark Scholarship

Parnell "Bud" Clark Scholarship

The Parnell “Bud” Clark Scholarship was established by his family in 2022 in his memory. Bud grew up in Muncie, IN. He graduated from Burris High School and then Ball State University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Education and Education Administration. His first teaching position was in Rising Sun, IN where he met the love of his life, his wife Verlene. They were married on December 18, 1960.

In 1963, Bud took a teaching and coaching position at Battle Creek Lakeview Schools; then in 1966 he became an instructor at Kellogg Community College, where he remained until his retirement in 1996.

In 1966, Bud was teaching Income Tax Preparation in the Battle Creek Adult Education program, this led to the development of Clark Accounting. Bud prepared Income Taxes in Calhoun County from 1966 until his retirement in 2016; during that time Bud encouraged his son Todd to join him and changed the name to Clark and Clark Accounting Inc. Taking care of his clients was his biggest priority.

Bud’s love of teaching and helping others led him to serve on many committees and boards striving to improve the educational opportunities for his students and fellow faculty members.

Bud devoted most of his time to athletics and participated in the KCC Noontime Basketball Association for many years. He coached and supported his children in every athletic endeavor. He had a passion for the youth. Bud was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; during his lifetime he was a trusted friend, coach, co-worker, advisor, and mentor to many.
