Kim R. Cortright Memorial Scholarship

Kim Cortright was a Battle Creek Central High alumni. He loved to swim and was a member of the swim team in high school. He was also active in high school journalism. Kim was involved with Battle Creek youth and helped establish a safe “hang-out” for kids after school.

Kim was a 1965 KCC graduate, earning an associate degree in arts and communication before going on to earn a bachelors degree in journalism. Throughout his career, Kim worked at universities in Georgia, Mississippi and California as a public relations specialist where he developed press releases, articles, catalogs, and college-related materials for students.

Kim had a brother, Phil Cortright of Battle Creek, and a sister, Marsha Cortright Prestage of Clinton, NC.

Impact

His parents, Max and Lucille, created this scholarship to honor Kim, who preceded them in death.
