Eldon & Emma Draime Memorial Scholarship

Eldon and Emma Draime met in Battle Creek in 1945 and married in 1946. Eldon was born in Vincennes, IN, and originally came to Michigan to play basketball at Western Michigan University under Coach Buck Reed. He served in the Army from 1941-1945 and then returned to Battle Creek.

Eldon and Emma had twins, Lindsay and Linda, in 1947 and moved to Pennfield in 1956. Eldon worked at Jack Pearl’s selling sporting goods to high schools and colleges, sold cars, and retired as the veterans counselor for Calhoun County. He was also heavily involved in the American Legion and was a 50-year continuous member pin holder as well as managing the American Legion twice.

Impact

The Eldon & Emma Draime Memorial Scholarship was set up by their children to honor their parents. Eldon and Emma were always proud of their children’s accomplishments and truly believe in the importance of education.
