Deborah A. Dilworth Memorial Scholarship

Deb Dilworth’s professional life as a social worker and parent educator was dedicated to the well being of children and their families. Her always gentle, nurturing and affirmative manner allowed those she served to be comforted by a sense of confidence in her approach. Deb’s focus tended to be strength based, which helped others to realize they could learn to have a positive influence on those they loved and cared about.

Deb was raised in Parma, Michigan, with her two borthers. After attending Jackson Community College, she completed her bachelor’s degree in social work at Western Michigan University. Deb was an integral part of Family and Children’s Services of Calhoun County in Battle Creek from 1971 – 1981. After the arrival of her three sons, she returned to work in 1990 in Allegan County as a Parent Educator for an Early Education program. Deb continued this valuable work until she developed cancer in 2007.

Deb’s life will serve as a role model for positive parenting and marital/family life long into the future. Her keen sense of colleagueship and true friendship will continue to be an inspiration to all those who knew her. Deb could always be counted on to look for the best in each person whose life she touched.
