Al Brown Memorial Scholarship
Al Brown was on stage most of his life, and he loved it that way. Born in Toledo in 1934, he moved to Battle Creek in 1948 and Battle Creek would never be the same. From 1972 onward, Al was on stage almost all the time: in the Leila Follies every year, in many Civic Theatre plays, in the St. Philip Entertainment series and in the Harper Creek Optimist Follies.
Al was funny, caring, warm, charming, thoughtful, generous and creative. He made people smile, and laugh, and he too smiled, laughed and enjoyed life.
Impact
Members of the Alfred J. “Al” Brown Tribute Committee established this fund following Al’s passing. His legacy to make Battle Creek a better place will be passed on to generations of deserving theatre students.
